What a funny old day. My chronic reflux makes it feel like my stomach acid is eating it’s way out of my body, probably particularly bad today because I knew I had to confront a former friend about her catty, corporate crap in front of a room full of men who’ll no doubt chalk the entire thing up to our cycles being in sync. Whatevs.
So I jump in my car and start punching around the dial when I hear the magical high-pitched chuckle and broken English of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The ABC are finally playing the conversation HH had with Richard Fidler on Brisbane’s River Stage about 4 weeks ago. I volunteered at the event. Ironically my being there and not somewhere else was the catalyst for the morning’s confrontation. Spooky.
Then I get home and check my email. There’s one from Juliette from Givit.org.au. Brilliant girl who runs a brilliant website through which she liaises with hundreds of charities to find out what their clients actually need. She posts a list online and those of us who are looking for ways to give, can GIVE! She’s asking me to be an ambassador for the website. Of course I will be you nut!
So glad I was with those 9 000 people at the River Stage that day. So inspired by people who use their abilities to serve others like Juliette. So grateful I have mylanta in the fridge. Long Live His Holiness the Dalai Lama!

Meshel, love your work. You are so very funny and I so enjoy your blog and observations and seeing you on tele. So true what you say about people who truly are inspiring.
The ABC only just ran it?
Wasn’t His Holiness just so grace-filled, wise and funny?
It was a wonderful afternoon that day.
So glad you’re doing your thing for GIVIT now too Meshel.
