My Big Gay Day.

I was so grateful to be invited back to Big Gay Day this year. This time last year I was busy fending off serious allegations of homophobia. It was hideous, and printed in every gay publication and website in the country. The complaint, that I'd vilified transgender people on the radio, went to the highest level of Commercial Radio Australia, the potential penalties for me and for the radio station just didn't bare thinking about. The complaint was ultimately dismissed, but you know, shit...

special guest star with our old pal keenan.

When we last checked in with Keenan, he was rocking Katy Perry's Teenage Dream. He got millions of hits, became a youtube sensation, and attracted exactly the expected amount of attention from the internet's vicious bullies. Well he's brushed it off, focussed on the fun and taken on lip-synching challenges from Train to Usher and back again. One very canny superstar has recognised an opportunity in young Keenan, but I'm not mad at him because it fits. His homophobic tweets of late haven't...

DWTS first same-sex couple, brought to you by Israel!

The celebrity is an openly gay sports journo by the name of Gili Shem-Tov, and in a surprise twist revealed on the first episode of the season, she was paired with a female dancer. I'm not shocked by this development, because I remember watching as Isreal won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 with "Viva La Diva" by transsexual artist Dana International. Danawent on to sell millions of albums in and is currently a judge on Israeli Pop Idol. Tel Aviv, I read today, prides itself on being...

I Like Adam Gilchrist.

I'm no a big one for sport. Cricket in particular shits me to death because it's so boring and goes forever and reminds me of Christmas Hols from school when all I wanted to do was chill out with the dog on the couch and there was nothing on TV. Now I've met two cricket players, Matt Haydon and and Adam Gilchrist and they are both delightful. Gilly told me a great story off-air about India. I'm fascinated by India, desperate to go, blah, blah, blah so I was pestering him for info. Specifically...

This ain’t right Keira.

Keira Knightley has denied she's anorexic for years. Her favourite defence is that anorexia runs in her family, having afflicted both her mother and Grandmother, so she knows what it's about, and would never submit to it. Well this pic was taken a couple of days ago and she is thinner than ever. I'm not one of those women who obsesses about these things I promise you, but the glorification of Keira in her current state as "beautiful" is really disturbing me now. Her jawline has been sharp for...

New conan.

In less than a month Conan O'Brien's new show will finally air in the US, and hopefully in Australia soon after. Solidifying his position as the guy who insists upon being interesting where he could totally just sit down and relax, Conan is pushing through a very cool publicity campaign. There will be 37 different Conan promos during the Major League Baseball playoffs without repeating an ad once, and this big budget promo is playing before movies in cinemas all over America as we speak. Every...

Karl Pilkington is an idiot abroad.

Karl Pilkington is a real person, and I know that because radio is a very small world, and a couple of guys I work with, have worked with him. So rare and wonderful a jewel is Karl that his very existence is to some unfathomable. That's not how the guys at work describe him however. Commercial radio is a very macho world where nobody ever eats a steak or drinks a beer, but "smashes the arse out of them," so a funny little fellow like Karl remains an oddity to some. Those guys raise their eyebrows...

Dave Grohl suing the scissor sisters?

I'm not a fan of The Foo Fighters, or of the Fooeys, the Foos or the Fighters, but I am a Dave Grohl enthusiast from way back. I reckon all his songs sound the same which I guess is ace if you really love the song. I'm not fussed on the song, but for people like me, there are the videos which generally rock the socks. What Dave Grohl really wants to do is act if you ask me. I've always kind of expected him to pop up in a Jack Black movie or something and I wouldn't be mad at him if he did....

New Russell Brand Interview.

Gosh I love Russell Brand. I really loved dirty rotten scoundrel Russell of yesteryear, but I have to say I'm not displeased with tenuously tamed Russell. He's cleaner looking and better dressed since becoming Mr Katy Perry, she of the somewhat fundamentalist Christian childhood, she the great disapprover of Lady Gaga's sacriligious carry on, she the cup-cake busomed wonder of the world. What a pair they must be when catching up with chums over a carry and a cheap red. He'd have ever-so-many...

Cody simpson.

You may not have heard of Cody Simpson, but Google him and you'll have 717 000 options for basking in the glory of a 13 year old boy from the Gold Coast who is also the pull-out poster in this month's American "Popstar" magazine. Last time he came into Nova four months ago, it was the day before the whole family moved to LA so that Cody could work with Justin Timberlake's producers among others. So he's back in Australia for the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards which Rove will also be flying back...
