Give Money

Obviously finding people to accept your cash is never difficult, but finding a charity you can really connect and forge a relationship with can be very rewarding.  I’ve found it can even give me something to feel good about when other things in my life are getting me down.

SISHA (South East Asia Investigations into Social and Humanitarian Activities)

This is my main charity, although the word “charity” doesn’t really cover what they do.  Sisha is an organization run by an Australian team based in Cambodia which investigates incidents of human trafficking, trains local police in investigation techniques, prosecutes traffickers and supports the men, women and children they rescue from slavery.
Sisha works closely with the Cambodian police force but receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations.

KIVA

This one isn’t really a donation at all, but a loan of $25 that will give someone independence.  PLEASE visit the website, it blows my mind.

A Start In Life

Sponsor an Australian child through this organisation that provides Australian children with breakfast and food in their lunchbox among other things.

Youngcare

This organisation aims to help young people with high care needs get out of aged care facilities, and really, could there be anything worse than being a young person living in an old age home? You may have heard Bernhard Fanning talk about it, as he’s their number one fan and does a lot of fundraising on their behalf.

World Vision Smiles

Smiles is a great program which enables you to give a gift to a community on behalf of yourself or someone else. The gifts themselves are many and varied and lots of fun to choose.

Sunrise Children’s Villages

This charity was founded by a truly inspirational Australian woman by the name of Geraldine Cox who left the corporate world to create and maintain three orphanages in Cambodia.
Read more about Geraldine and book her as a corporate speaker here: www.geraldinecox.org

You can support Sunrise Children’s Villages by donating or by sponsoring individual children.

Greenpeace

Still fighting on so many fronts, Greenpeace encourages supporters to stay connected with the activities they fund.  Through your free “My Greenpeace” account you can be updated on issues about which you are passionate and take direct action yourself through their “Cyberactions”, (petitions etc.)  The gift shop enables you to donate towards a specific cause as a gift for someone else and the wealth of information the website provides will help you feel good about your shopping!

RSPCA Pet Insurance

This is a really smart way to donate, as you can reduce your vet bills by up to 80% while 20% of your premium goes to the RSPCA.

World Wildlife Fund (WWF)

Adopt a tiger, donate to a dugong, shop smarter for urangutans, support an organization at the coalface of conservation.

I can give!
