Voluntourism
How many of us choose our overseas holiday destinations based on the incredible value for money they provide to we tourists from the fortunate developed world?
These destinations often provide opportunities to give back by volunteering within the community for anything from a few hours to a few months.
Try googling “volunteer” when researching and planning your trip. Voluntourism can offer unparalleled communion with another nation’s people, environment and wildlife as well as a massive dose of the good old warm and fuzzies!
Here are a few links to get you started, but I do not personally endorse any of these organizations as I’ve not had the chance to try any of their programs yet.
PLEASE research any trip to the developing world carefully!
